The German medium tank Panzerkampfwagen IV was developed in the late 1930s and found considerable use in World War II. Production of the Panzer IV Ausf. H began in June 1943 and was officially named Sd. Kfz. 161/2.
Compared to previous variants, this novelty had Zimmerit paste on all vertical parts of the armor to prevent the attachment of magnetic anti-tank mines.
The upper part of the tower was also reinforced from 10 to 16 mm and 25 mm parts. As an additional protection, 5 mm armor plates were added on the sides of the fuselage and 8 mm on the turret, which, however, had to grind the vistas on the sides.
Later, the fuselage was still equipped with triangular struts of protective plates, which were otherwise easily destroyed.
Together with other modifications, these accessories led to an increase in weight to 25 tons and a reduction in maximum off-road speed to just 16 km / h.
