Description

In 1985 the T-72B was introduced into service. This was much improved over the previous model the T-72A.

The T-55AM2 is fitted with a modern fire control system with a ballistic calculator, calculating such things as air pressure, air temperature, weight of ammunition, reduced velocity for tube wear, and so on. It is also fitted with a laser rangefinder.

The SA-9 Gaskin (its NATO designation), called Strela-1M (Arrow‑1M) by the Soviets, is a wheeled, amphibious Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system based on the same vehicle as the BRDM-2 reconnaissance vehicle.

Unlike Western attack helicopters, which play hide and seek with their opponents, the tactics of the Mil Mi-24D Hind, called rather appropriately the Krokodil (Crocodile) by its crews, are more aggressive.

The Su-17 Fitter is a design improvement over the Su-7 Fitter replacing the Su-7’s fixed wing configuration with a variable-sweep wing.
